The first is that because the characters are all female, it must be to do with feminism and that the infinite loop is to do with birth.

I thought it was an analogy for the advantages and disadvantages of evolution.
The cube is simple and loving, but nothing else.
You have moved beyond the simplest stage of existence, but in return have given up your capacity for unconditional love.
Glados has evolved far beyond both of you, and can't display true love at all.

Did you ever read those articles with people looking into the 'deeper meanings' of portal, and that one where some dude analysed every line of 'still alive'? I read it thinking "...MAYBE THEY WROTE IT LIKE THAT BECAUSE IT SOUNDS COOL, FUCKER!" @_@

No no no, the Portal Gun is a phallic symbol. The portals it fires (read: ejaculates) turns into giant "holes" that your female protagonist "enters" and "exits" into another world. It's obviously a birth metaphor.

Also, GLaDOS's little brain-ball things look like boobies.
